Netbook Refection

This year I am really Happy having a Netbook to work on because this is easy access to my blog and also sharing our work with our teacher to check before you post on our blog.
Another thing is there are games on them so when ever we finish our tasks we play games.

As much as I have loved having a Netbook there are some things that I haven’t liked they are you can’t download hyper studio on your Netbook so we cant do animations.

The greatest challenge for me was trying to be focused and not copy what my friends are doing and to be honest sometimes I am a little dodgy but most of the time I am focused.

I think I would stay on the multi media on the whole day just so I wouldn't have to stay in and plus I no longer like to write with pen and paper.

This after noon I filled out the M.I (multiple intelligence) test. When you do this test it is gonna tell you what kind of person you are. As you can see my weakness is Music and if you can see it in the yellow I am a Interpersonal-People smart. I am very good at sorting out ague's between my friends and all that stuff you could think about PEOPLE. I think next time I do this I should get alot active and be Kinaesthetic- Body Smart.

Tuitalau Moa (character description)

My favourite cousin Tuitalau, brother of the the Taniela Moa (1st5 and half back for the Tongan rugby team 2011) had big eyes that stood out, furry hair, tan white skin and huge palms that could cover my face when we play wrestling. I was born in Tonga on July 22nd 1998 and he was born the next year at New Zealand July 23rd 1999. When I turned 13 this year he was 12 the next day. But what I like about it, is because some years we have our birthdays the same day.

My cousin is very kind person and very sneaky in a funny creepy way. Every time we have to sleep early he will always sneak into the living room late at night when everyone asleep to unplug the play station from the tv and bring it to the room so we can play his new game he shows off to me. He is always taking one for the team.

His favourite thing is mainly Sunday school and playing his play station. He will come and pick me up and then we walk to church like true Tongans walking on a hot sunny Sunday.
Sometimes during Sunday school after we do some intense learning he always tell me to sneak out and we go to the nearby dairy. Most of the time he spends 1/4 of his days sitting in front of the TV playing his new games or trying to finish his hired games from the Video Ezy store.

The things we enjoy doing together is walking home after school on Fridays. It is always an adventure because we allways come pass this long pipe and we will be tempted to walk on it and its 10 feet high in the air and 50 meters long with supporting poles so it could be strong. Another thing we enjoy doing together is going to Sunday school. There is a Sunday school test that we have to complete and its always Tuitalau and I that's always standing proud in front of the whole church on Sundays. The best part is our mums Shouting us Mac Attacks after church. When comes to my house or if I go to his house our parents will say yous are officially brothers until you go home. :)

Feeling the hot burning sands under my feet as I sprint towards the cold calm water.

The rough fizzy drinks flooded over my head, I felt like I was being over run by a strong force on a hot sunny day.

Math Whizz

Today I received a certificate and a picture of where I am with math whizz. As you can see I am very happy because I got the silver award so that means that I am coming second in our class.

Hopefully I can improve a little bit more so I can get the GOLD award.

And as you can see on the right I am improving I have attempted 20 exercisers I feel like a have improved ALOT all thanks to maths whizz.

Beep Test Reflection.

Yesterday room 20 had to do the beep test so our teacher could see where our fitness levels are at. A beep test is when you have to run 20 meters to a line before the beep. If you make it before the beep you have to wait and when the beep goes you run back to the previous line. On the beep test I archived level 4.7 it was so tiring and my feet were hurting, I finally dropped out.In the future I want to complete the beep test up to level 7.5. I could archive this by getting off the couch and be more active and do some fitness with my brother.

The Meaning of the Japanese Flag

Art With Mrs Muliaumasealii

This term every Wednesday in class we have been researching and studding about Fatu Feu’u and Philip Clairmont which are two amazing artists.

Mrs M is teaching us how to be a good artists. In class we are using wood cutting knives so she always demonstrates because Mrs M doesn't want us to go home with a scared hand like the scared couch witch we are learning about, that Phillip Clairmont painted.

First of all our teacher got us to sketch patterns similar to our two main artists Fatu Feuu and Phillip Clairmont. After that we laminated our wonderful pieces of art work. We used the wood cutting knives to cut through the laminated paper. After that we put our paper on top of a canvas then we sprayed any colour we liked on it.

We did this because Mrs M wanted us to be great artists and to show how art can be very interesting. I think that I have improved my drawing and also been learning to use a wood cutting knife properly.

Today I found a new and easy problem that would help me. So as you can see in the top our equation is 7x79. I done it like this, 7x70=490 and you have 9 left then do 7x9 equal 63. Now you add 490 and 69 equals 559.

HELICOPTER!!!!!

Russian born, US engineer, Igor Sikorsky , designed and flew the first four engined aircraft in 1913 and designed the first successful helicopter in 1939.

As to why, I can only guess that he saw a need and fulfilled it, or somebody asked him, or he picked up on one of Leonardo Da Vinci's ideas. ( A helicopter design.)

Thanks to Mr Igor sikorsky we have aircrafts that have been designed and crafted into a lot of different engineer flighting and things like new modern helicopter and aeroplanes with new and improoved engines!!! And did you that if it wasn’t for the famous painter himself Mr Leonado Da Vinci helicopters might not of been designed for about another 50 years when tecnology was better improoved!!! So thanks!

Christchurch Earthquake

On Tuesday 9 of March 12.51pm,an unexpected earthquake accrued at one of the largest cites of NZ. This event occurred at the time were people would be at work and at school. One of the famous landmarks of Christchurch the cathedral has been demolished due to the earthquake.

Sitting down watching the horrific and terrifying news made me feel like what would I be doing if I trapped down under the dusty debris. People have lose there lives not even there lives but there houses, cars and most had lost there job and job buildings.

On Friday we are having a Mufti to do a donation and also show our respect to all the family that have lost love ones. All I hope is the after shocks should be finish and may GOD bless the people that has died.

Room 20's Favrourite Fast Food

In Math this week we have been learning about Statistic. This meant that we had to decide on a
question or a problem that we wanted to solve. We created a form to collect our data, once everyone filled our form we tallied up the data and used google spread sheet to create a graph to show the results to show the most popular fast food in room 20. The most popular fast food is Mac Donald's. The less popular food is 3 things Taro, Sushi and Subway.

We meandered down the streets of GI, there was an air of excitement that made me think of what I’m gonna make at tech. When we got there we assembled at the gates and waited until our new tech teachers came.
When the teachers arrived we took off as soon as we can and when we went inside he introduced these electronic stuff and all about the class but what he forgot to introduce was his name. Mr Mull - hot - rah . Mr Mallhotra.

What was the interesting part was, he was a very funny Indian man because he would come up with all these stuff that made us laugh. Also when he talks too.

The best about part about tech was meeting our new teacher and also play around with our very funny Mr Mallhotra. Next week I’m looking forward to creating my
Project.

My Sunny & Hot Sun Shining Day

Hopping of the van I could feel the humility and heat rise from the ground. Looking at those rows was like I’m in ‘HELL’. About 500m long 2 m wide I said to my brother “Are you keen” he replied
“I’m in hell” just what I was thinking.

First of all we all got a scisccors and we meandered down the the muddy aisle like a pigs aisle {just kidding}. As soon as we started cutting , the sun was moving fast and also the cows were Mooing .When it was 12.00 we finished one side of the field, sun shining it was break time. What we had was rice and corn-beef stew. WHAT!!! corn-beef stew on a sunny blazzetering hot day, Is that even impossible I asked myself. Eating that stew made us sweat and also made us very very hot.

After lunch we went down the aisle, the mud was all dried up and cracky like a little earth quake Into the fields suddenly I saw heaps of rows, row after row after row. OooHhh are you kidding mate!!! As the sun was slowly moving down.

On 6.00pm on the dot the sun was completely down and the moon was popping out like a burnt toast. Just 1 and a half hour drive back home, in the shower I looked at the mirror I recognised that my skin is the same colour of a burnt toast.

After all our work mates even me and my brother was all happy because we got paid $250 each.That day we all went and celebrated a "HAPPY NEW YEAR" with our Money.Chh Ching!

School Athletics

1, 2, 3. On the count of 3 I let go of the discus and saw it thump and roll along the ground, I saw Mr Jacobsen raise 2 fingers up, I had earned 2nd place! I was so impressed with myself until someone came 2nd and I was now in 3rd place, until eventually someone took over my place (again). I was beginning to think that I wouldn't get a place out of any of the events, luckily for me there was still one more event to go-Javelin.

As we walked over to javelin I began to feel very nervous, we started off with the 11 year old boys first, watching them made my nerves build up even more, would I get a place or not?! Finally it was my turn, as I threw the javelin I scored at 1st place and then went down to 2nd place, now I was panicking, I looked up at the line and saw there were still heaps of boys to go! At the end of it all I came 3rd place!

My highlight for the day was watching the relays and coming 3rd place in javelin. I can't wait until next years athletics day!

Dream Comes True!!

Finally yesterday afternoon, we year sevens had a major dream come true. We are one of the luckiest school in the Tamaki cluster trying out our new Netbooks. Thanks to Housing New Zealand and a very kind and generous man Dean Farmer for donating money for the first 100 Netbooks.

We got them yesterday after lunch but today we got to have a full experience with them. Working on the Netbooks is very cool because we don't have to pull out our exercise book and pencils. As part of doing our work we had to take a photo and publish it with this post. WOO HOO Dream Come True !!

Volcanoes

What are volcanoes?

Volcanoes are kind of like mountains. They are created when magma inside of the earth escapes to the surface. Most volcanoes are found on the edge of the earth plates. There are 1500 volcanoes in the world.

How are volcanoes formed?

Volcanoes are formed when the magma hits the surface and it is called lava.

It is also formed when the lava flows down the volcano. (can also form when two plates split apart, leaving cracks in the earths crust)

How does an eruption occur?

An eruption occurs when two tectonic plates collide at a convergent boundary. Volcanic eruptions vary from gentle to violent depending on the amount of gas in the magma.

Different types of volcanoes.

Cinder Cone Volcanoes explode fiery clouds of ash rather than flowing lava. When they explode pieces of varying sizes called cinders fly high. The cinders that fly high are also the name of the volcano that is why they are call the cinder cone volcano.

Shield Volcano are large volcanoes that are built entirely out of fluid lava flows. It has shallow sides mounds. It got it name from the ancient warriors shield and it sits on the oceans crust.

Strato Volcano are volcanoes that has steep slopes and when it explode

it spits out clouds of ash and cinders. Some of the most famous volcanoes in the world are strato volcanoes. After the explotion, when the lava cools up it leaves layers and layers of lava and sometimes of layers of ash. This is the reason why they are also called composite volcano because of there slope sides.

The Largest Volcano
Mauna Loa is the biggest active volcano and also the largest volcano on

earth. It has erupted 33 times since 1848. Its last eruption was in 1984, it also erupted in 1942 during World War 2.

It is an extinct volcano.

I feel very happy that I live in Auckland because I can spot one extinct volcano right when I open my front door. (Mt Wellington)

Mr Furious

Mrs Nua gave us a task to complete, In this task we either had to design a buisness card or create our own explorer character. It was quite hard to design a character because it took a lot of thinking, drawing and rubbing out, finally I came up with my very own creation-Mr Furious. He sails around the world on his floating device, his weapon is an oar but he also uses it to paddle and to reflect the sun when it is too hot. Nick name Mr F
